Pros

It's a good way for young people to gain retail experience, it's super flexible--you can choose your availability and trade shifts with your coworkers, and the people you work with are friendly and pretty cool. I think this would be a good place to work as your first job!

Cons

The work gets pretty boring and tiring--constantly doing the same tasks everyday like folding clothes, back stocking, etc. I remember it being fun at first but I got so sick and tired of doing the same thing every single day. Management can either be good or bad depending on the person.

Former Employee - Store Manager in Rochester, NY

    Pros

-work with your friends and build relationships
-very organized management in training program; sets you up for success

    Cons

-hiring based on peoples looks and not based on work ethic; unethical
-low pay, MIT is $28000 no negotiation, assistant manager 28,000-30,000 (depending on raises), store manager $33,000 - 36,000
    - pay depends on area you are working
-must have college degree to do mindless work
-district managers are undertrained and immature; often times talking badly about managers to other managers
    - paid half time for working overtime WHICH is ILLEGAL in NYS!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire people based on their work ethics opposed to what they look like. Raise pay for managers and fix your overtime policies so that your people are compensated. Pay your sales staff more then minimum wage and you won't have such a high retention issue.
