I worked at AboveNet full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Stable work environment
    Great Pay
    Great processes and Policies

    Cons

A little bit heavy on the politics and favoritism
Not a lot of room to move up.
Sold to Zayo out of nowhere and this could wipe out what made AboveNet a great and successful company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Any management (or anyone) that was transitioned to Zayo should work to preserve the AboveNet way.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at AboveNet

    Pros

Good steady workflow, although end of month and quarters get a little hectic
    Educated people working around you
    Great understanding of work/life balance
    Good yearly bonus

    Cons

Training for new products/technologies at times was insufficient
Upper Management lacked a clear goal for company
Communications between depts could be better
    Internal advancement is difficult

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should provide a clear vision and set of goals for the company moving forward; sometimes it's had to see how decisions fit into an overall plan.
