Pros

The pros are that they do work in fields where it is important, such as environment, housing, social policy, education, etc. The work-life balance is really good.

Cons

The cons are that they do work that isn't always the highest priority and can get shelved on a moments notice. It can be sort of boring too, but maybe that holds for all jobs.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Comfortable place to work but without challenge for junior staff.

I have been working at Abt Associates

    Pros

It's a good place for people who want intellectual stimulation. The people are friendly and respectful.

    Cons

Like all consulting businesses, your work load and subject matter is determined by the clients you have. So, if you don't like the client work, you're in an unfortunate position.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Staff need more professional development and feedback about their work in order to advance professionally. Also, it's good to give staff an opportunity to contribute to business development, especially when clients solicit project ideas. This encourages creativity and makes staff feel like they're "part of the team" in the grander sense.
