I worked at Academy Sports & Outdoors full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The job is not very difficult. They provide health care and paid vacation time. Opportunity for paid training and possibilities to move up.

    Cons

No breaks, full-time is often only 30hrs a week, pay is minimum wage, often will leave you alone in a department which causes customer frustration.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care more about your customers by keeping enough people working in a department.

I have been working at Academy Sports & Outdoors full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Not many - I wasn't there long before leaving.

    Cons

Management and the lack of HR support when reporting issues. Management played favorites and kept the obvious knowledgeable employees from advancing due to grudges. Promotions were based strictly on salary caps - if it was review time and you weren't going to get a raise because of a salary cap, you got a promotion so that a raise could be given. These were mostly based on time with the company, NOT merit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Follow up with Employees when issues are reported to HR - don't sweep them under the rug.
