Pros

The variety and complexity of the deployment work within all sizes of government agencies provides a rewarding and challenging career option.

Cons

Prior to the downturn in the economy, staff were stretched thin. After layoffs and departures, staff are overworked and under rewarded for their efforts.

    Pros

    Trusting & loyal management. Sexy & interesting software. ROI to sell. Supportive corporate culture. Has come a long way in the many years I've been at the company. Best bosses I've ever had. Strong sales focused organization.

    Cons

    On the low side of average comp for enterprise class apps. Needs stronger cash flow management. The amount of foreign development has been a drawback, which is way too far away from the customer. Too much bureaucracy for a company this size. It needs to be cut down significantly. CEO position needs to have more power. Too many chiefs @ Accela, not enough Indians. This is a result of trying to balance the cultures of many acquired companies. Taken too long for a dominate corporate culture to evolve from all the mergers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep focusing on the customer & the customer's customer...more and more. No more Vegas user conferences...ever. More Tier 1 Partners. This has improved significantly under the current CEO, Maury Blackman, but still needs more progress. Let your sound strategy take the day, not ego. Customers don't care what clothes you ware. They care only about value.

    I have been working at Accela, Inc. full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    In my opinion Accela is a really good place to work. Its a growing company that has cornered a niche market. Also, they give employees a lot of autonomy and trust. And lastly, the knowledge base and training is excellent. These people really know what they're doing and they love what they do.

    Cons

    The benefits could be better but its a private company so that's the nature of private companies. Also, they expect a lot of their employees so don't think its an easy path. you have to work your butt off.

    Stay the course and book more business!
