Former Employee - Manager  in  London, England (UK)
Former Employee - Manager in London, England (UK)

Pros

The work is generally challenging and most of the people are great to work with. It looks great on the CV and the pay is normally pretty good, although this can vary depending on whether you get a duff review.

Cons

No work - life balance. They expect you to earn your money, so you'll spend an awful lot of time at the office and probably a lot of time away from home. The laddering system used for performance ratings can be very hit and miss. You can find yourself getting a good ratings for not doing a great deal one minute and then very average ratings for working your arse off the next - depending on the project you're on. For promotions there is a real emphasis on time at level as opposed to whether people are actually any good or not. I've seen people who are extremely average get promoted ahead of others that are much better but haven't yet served their "time". At the more senior levels the Senior Execs can start treating you like a dormat.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the chaff and start rewarding people for working smarter, not just harder.

    Think twice before joining Accenture

Current Employee - Account Manager  in  Chennai (India)
Current Employee - Account Manager in Chennai (India)

    Pros

The company has a big reputation in the market, so the experience that you get to add in your resume is valuable. Also this is a huge organization, so if you are lucky you get good projects. Managers are generally professional and the atmosphere in the organization is also very professional.. however there are exceptions specially in India. If you wish to join Accenture then you should come in with a mind frame of being here for long term as you start getting more visibility only after you have completed at least one and half years, so you have to be patient.

    Cons

There are too many teams for doing the same job.. maybe it adds redundancy to the organization, however you start feeling that you do not have any work to do.. and lot of days you might be just sitting idle. In this market scenario it also triggers the fear that you might lose your job. Also they have been firing the bottom 5% of people from the projects based on so called performance..However the reality is that they have a target number and whether you clear the Performance Improvement Program or not you will be fired. Also not many good opportunities for MBA's who are not from the top ranking B-Schools

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The senior Management needs to be more aware of the reality and should know who is working and who is not working. Everybody tries to be nice in front of their eyes, however at their backs there are lot of people who are not doing their jobs and are even BULLYING NEW JOINERS!!! This is absolutely ridiculous when one of the much talked about values is respecting the individual.

Current Employee - Senior Analyst in Buenos Aires (Argentina)

    Pros

Great people, great work environment, respect for the individual and good leadership.

    Cons

Low salaries, poor communication from Management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Raise salaries and you will have less rotation. People love the company until they realize that they can earn double working for competitors. Although I strongly agree on the way people, the best asset of Accenture, is treated, I usually find that many valuable workers leave due to this.
