I have been working at Accenture

Pros

The work environment with Accenture is very young and full of talented people.

Cons

Compensation is terrible and the discrepency in salary between employees at the SAME levels is unacceptable.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to the feedback employees give and don't always think you know best. Try to come down from the ivory tower and put your finger on the pulse of the company so you can better understand how people feel.

I have been working at Accenture

    Pros

In my experience, Accenture is among the strongest technology consulting firms. Not only do they deliver well, they combine it with strong understanding of the business. Though I'm sure other firms have their strengths, my opinion is that Accenture leads when it comes to delivering business solutions as opposed to just installing systems.

    Cons

Work-life balance can be hard. It's probably no worse than at other firms, but it would be difficult to succeed with fewer than 60 hrs per week. Sr management typically lets you manage your own time, but client expectations and the need to support internal initiatives often makes it hard to balance in practice.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communication around the recent layoffs could have been improved. Statements from leadership were vague and in informal settings, at times flippant. I understand that there are legal constraints on what could be communicated, but the criteria for who stayed and who was let go seemed arbitrary.

I have been working at Accenture

    Pros

Corporate Culture - relaxed, and open environment that values sharing of information, ideas, and experience.
People - motivated individuals who aren't antiquated in their thinking. Open door policy all around at all levels

    Cons

Over promising on project timeline estimates without taking feedback from other similar projects or lessons learned. Seems to be an issue on every project regardless of industry, capability, custom/prepackaged software, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look for ways to better communicate with people honestly and provide visibility to peers on what other people are doing at their level early in the performance cycle. Provide concrete and measurable examples and targets for people to reach and base reviews on that, rather than perception of roles/accomplishments (compare apples to apples).
