Accenture Employee Review
Accenture – “Couldn't get out quickly enough”
3 of 3 people found this helpfulPros
It is actually pretty hard for me to give any positive points on Accenture. Unless you are born and bred into this culture I think you'll find it very political and not a place you'll enjoy spending your life.
One of the main pros is similar to most consulting jobs - the travel perks. After working here for 2 years I hit executive platinum on American Airlines and had enough air and hotel points to provide a few free vacations.
Cons
I was a part of the management consulting arm during my 2 years here. Unfortunately, Accenture hasn't made enough of a move into the management consulting business to have projects for all of their management consultants. This leads to staffing on IT implementation and outsourcing roles because that is the majority of work Accenture wins.
The management of Accenture is at the heart of the dissatisfaction of its employees. Management is very political and if you get on the good side of a partner, you are set for life. If you come from 'industry' as they say, breaking into the Accenture culture is tough if you are the kind of person who wants to do what is right for the client, not just what will make the partner look the best.
Advice to Senior Management
Take a hard look at the way in which some of the partners operate their projects and try starting from the ground up in building teams that will successfully deliver the end product - don't allow partners to just staff people they know will follow them around like puppy dogs and never challenge them.
