I have been working at Accenture

Pros

- Very smart people
- Depending on the practice, you can run autonomous with little senior management/practice interference
- Good benefits
- Focus on career development
- continues to work on work/life balance

Cons

- Travel, as with any consulting firm
- Size of the firm
- It is a large firm so sometimes change is slow although they do try to adapt quickly

Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's hard for such a large firm but it would be good for management to try and localize performance and rewards between groups vs. standardizing across the entire organization.

    Great for networking
    Challenging work environment

    Cons

If no accounts are coming in then the opportunities for advancement decrease
Once you are successful in a position you can get stuck
the compensation is low due to the outsourcing environment

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bill Green has wonderful ideas about the importance of challenging employees to maintain their level of engagement. This makes sense to me.

    I worked at Accenture

    Pros

Broad experience and exposure to various industries and functions; availability of extensive IP in almost all business areas, recognized and respected brand, existing executive relationships

    Cons

Image as technology and outsourcing firm affects the ability to break through management consulting and pure strategy engagements, limited C-level exposure for team members other than senior executives

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reduce complexity in promotion and recognition process, improve cross group knowledge sharing and instill discipline in contribution to KX, promote cross group transfers and short term stints.
