I have been working at Accenture

Pros

- Very smart people
- Depending on the practice, you can run autonomous with little senior management/practice interference
- Good benefits
- Focus on career development
- continues to work on work/life balance

Cons

- Travel, as with any consulting firm
- Size of the firm
- It is a large firm so sometimes change is slow although they do try to adapt quickly

Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's hard for such a large firm but it would be good for management to try and localize performance and rewards between groups vs. standardizing across the entire organization.

    I worked at Accenture

    Pros

Accenture is a phenomenal place to launch a career. They understand how to work with early twentysomethings and help grow them into professionals. Hours can be bad at times, but the worst weeks only come at the end of the project lifecycle.

If you are capable of driving your own career, being on the look out for opportunities within the firm and taking a really proactive approach as an analyst, you'll move up fast.

    Cons

Performance rankings do not impact salaries enough. Just anecdotally, most women in our "start group" made significantly less then men in the beginning-- because the women didn't negotiate. Because all raises are then on a proportional basis, it can be hard to catch up even if you outperform your peers that started higher. Accenture should address this by rethinking their zoning structure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on core competencies and don't oversell work that can't be completed effectively. A few bad projects can damage a reputation pretty quickly.
