I worked at Accenture

Pros

Great colleagues / good opportunities to network within government.

Cons

Long / unbillable hours, poor recognition of achievements unless one of the chosen people. 'Bums on seats' approach in filling client requirements.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Place more emphasis in nurturing / promoting people who bring client value and you will spend less time / money recruiting replacements.

I have been working at Accenture

    Pros

You get a very generous vacation package (5 weeks) right off the bat. And, you can take a leave of absence to do fun stuff or personal stuff after you've hit a 3-year commitment.

    Cons

Even if you are in the Management Consulting practice, the Technology / Systems Implementation aspect is unavoidable - it is Accenture's bread and butter.

The work, quite frankly, is just not that interesting, and you get a bit pigeon-holed into certain things that you did when you were an analyst and were good at.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    I worked at Accenture

    Pros

    1. Great training
    2. Camaraderie
    3. Resume booster
    4. Travel
    5. PTO

    Cons

    1. Pay is not at all competitive
    2. Review/promotion process is very subjective

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Re-evaluate pay packages and the performance review/promotion process. They both may be a bit outdated to keep ACN competitive; the best people are leaving.
