I have been working at Accuray

Pros

The compensation and benefits are good for this industry. Bonuses are low, maybe because sometimes stock grants and options are given to better performing employees. The atmosphere is relaxed, yet professional. The quality of people is exceptional and people are friendly. Mid level management is very good. Employees are passionate about our product.

Cons

Corporate communication can sometimes be poor. Verbal communication is at a minimum. People like to communicate via email too often. Accuray performs in a very competitive marketplace. Small company finding it's way in a large market. Perspective customers have a lot of barriers to get past (CON, construction, contract contingencies). Poor stock performance makes employees question upper managements ability to lead the company.

Overall communication must improve with employees.

    Pros

    Noble cause of fighting cancer
    New technologies

    Cons

    Poor management
    Not enough consideration for the customers (too centered on orders..)
    Poor marketing in general, a single offer, no market segmentation...
    Disappointing results since the acquisition of TomoTherapy (merge has been very badly managed)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Have a better and more innovative marketing approach
    More consideration for the customers
    Improve management skills
    Should listen more its employees

    I worked at Accuray full-time

    Pros

    People care about the product. Technology is amazing. Ability to manage your time to what works best for you. A true attempt to establish cross functional communication within the lower ranks of the Company

    Cons

    Upper mgmt has always been seen as a "Boys club" and reactive as oppose to strategic. There is a lot of finger pointing. Team morale is very stifled.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop spending dollars to chase pennies.
