I have been working at Ace Hardware full-time (more than 8 years)

Pros

Great pay for required work. Hours are pretty good, will rarely be asked to come in for extra hours or days. The crew is very fun (with a few exceptions).

Cons

Management rarely listens to ideas of employees. Very top-down management style. Common sense is lacking heavily in several employees and a few are emotionally volatile. Employees have relatively low expectations and responsibility. No real room to advance or move up.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to employees and give them more responsibility.

I worked at Ace Hardware part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

You learn a lot of home improvement skills and meet very educated people working in their departments.

    Cons

Not much room to grow vertically. Best you can hope for is maybe get a manager position but working to get to that point isn't worth it

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep an eye on the workers who are genuine and actually try to help the customers
