I worked at Ace Hardware full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

growth in work place, knowledge, and employee loyalty. The training that ACE offers is a great tool and will teach you a lot in the retail field that you can use anywhere.

Cons

Not to flexible with schedule, with long hours. Although it is retail, you have to work almost every weekend.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

start high with wage negotiations. Use the training program to it fullest.

I have been working at Ace Hardware part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Laid back, easy, good hours

    Cons

pay, always made minimum wage. Each store is separately owned so everyone one has different rules. We had to wear slacks instead of jeans which was bad cause they aren't very cheap and they would get ruined.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

set some universal standards and do more mystery shops

I have been working at Ace Hardware as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Its a good company to work for if you are a contractor and do not really care about anything else other then a paycheck

    Cons

Just too unprofessional in a lot of ways. Have way to many contractors who are told from day one that they should not have any hope of becoming permanent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have some kind of structure for your employees. Cross department involvement should be there so that a person can grow in the long run.
