I have been working at Active Network full-time

Pros

Developers are exposed to lots of technologies and get to work with the entire stack. In other companies, you never know if the software you write will see the "light of day". Here, you see your software in action and actually get to travel to the corporate conferences and see attendees use the software you write.

Cons

As a larger company, some divisions are doing well and others are performing at a lower level. The business units that are performing well don't seem to see more resources or higher raises.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in the divisions that are high performing, including tying raise amounts to how well your division is doing. Grow and foster strong teams in each division and trust them to produce. Then hold the teams accountable who consistency miss goals.

Live every day in fear of losing your job

I worked at Active Network full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The culture that created the company was a great one like many startups with a lot of excitement and enthusiasm.

    Cons

The change in senior leadership in late 2011 was a shock that lived up to be the change that the new senior leaders promised. The introduction of the new senior leadership started with, "these guys live everyday in fear of losing their jobs" and true to their word, they imposed that culture change on everyone at the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is too much emphasis on growth which benefits stakeholders with almost no emphasis on employee morale and even worse, no one at the top seems to care about their customers. Get back to basics and start treating the people that make you money better.
