I have been working at Acxiom

Pros

There is never a problem taking time off. Very flexible start/finish times.

Cons

Far too bureaucratic. To get anything done requires so many people and very often simple decisions take months. The most recent example was ordering a PC. It took 5 months to go through purchasing with numerous meetings debating spec then eventually ordering an off the shelf Dell taking 2 days to deliver. The cost of the PC (£900) was dwarfed by the cost of the meetings. The corporate culture fosters a lack of accountability, it is easy to pick up bad habits. Acxiom's IT emphasizes this as they look at quick fixes rather than root causes and preventative measures.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on accountability and cut out unnecessary bureaucracy. Stop and thinking about why something cant be done and start thinking about how it can be done.

    Pros

Opportunity does exist to move around internally.

    Cons

Working as a consumer data business in the age of hightened privacy concerns is less than ideal. Even though leadership says they value being challenged in the hallway, it's not advised. What they really mean is "tell us how great we're doing." A hero culture is rewarded - "Joey came in over the weekend to make sure this release got into production. Yay!" That tends to send the wrong message to employees, even if subconsciously.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lead by example. It's not what you say, but how you behave. If you want perspective and employee loyalty, get out of the ivory towers and work next to the front line employees. You may learn a few things.
