    I worked at Advance Auto Parts full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    After giving all a person can give. After almost losing relationship with family. There are no PROS to working for this company. Retail is not easy. This company is the " armpit of retail".

    Cons

    Excessive work loads for employees due to inability to actually schedule right amount of staff for needed times of day. No ability to have a family life. No sequential days off. Work minimum of 50 hours for 40 hours pay. Corporate does the scheduling per previous years sales. Warranties not honored to customers without receipt. Many warranties lost in the system bringing customer service issues. Lots of backstabbing throughout entire organization.

    Advice to Management

    Follow core values that are preached. Do not instill coaching and mentoring to management and treat management completely opposite. Practice what is preached.

    I worked at Advance Auto Parts full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    I was a GM and the pay was decent enough for the amount of physical work that had to be done.

    Cons

    Corporate has no problem letting you know that there's a million other people out there willing to do your job for less. Corporate will always take the side of the customer if they happen to call in, regardless of how much you helped them or what they were trying to get.

    Advice to Management

    Have DL's that actually have enough time to visit stores and not threaten you over email or occasional phone calls. WAY too many out of store meetings. One or two a week in my division, two hour round trip for me so the DL doesn't have too drive too far. And if you want the GM to run the store, you shouldn't make their sales goal the highest, yet still expect all the mountains of non sales related work to be done.
