The only pros were the people I worked with were fun to be around.

The cons of working at advance auto parts is that the schedule is always changing and it impacts your social life.

Upper management tries micromanage everything.

    Pros

    I loved my immediate coworkers, and you will definitely learn a lot. Getting 20% off of car parts helps out when you need to fix your own ride too.

    Cons

    Upper management is pretty much worthless, and your pay is based off of how much product you sell, so you are pressured to push extra stuff onto customers, which I never liked doing.

    Advice to Management

    Let store managers write their own schedule - you can't run a store with only 2 people on a shift at any given time, regardless of what your numbers say.

    Pros

    Interacting with and helping the customers.

    Cons

    Training is basically when GM has time along with monthly videos online. SPH program based mainly on salary/experience rather than mean general income of the surrounding area of the store and prior year sales. Scheduling and traffic flow greatly affect the SPH in a negative way. Seems all that is cared about is the stores sales/bottom line and not the employees as it used to be. SPH program is a good tool to be used to get rid of the high salaried/long term employees and bring in lower paid employees. Hard to make your sales goal/bonus as opposed to what is told to you when recruited/hired.

    Advice to Management

    Get rid of SPH (sales per hour) program. It is doing more harm than good. Monitor the DL's and ensure they are doing there jobs properly and not just being a "yes" person.
