I worked at Advisory Board

Pros

If you’ve just graduated and need the experience they will teach you what you need to know. Everything you say will be scripted by someone else. They’ll show you how to do every part of your job step by step. They offer decent perks, like 4 weeks of vacation time, fun department activities and the occasional free lunch, So as long as your parents pay your rent while you work here this place could be ok.

Cons

Long term, no thanks. If you’re looking for something beyond entry level, RUN as fast as you can. They hype up team booze cruises and general day-drinking that trick employees into justifying their nearly unlivable salaries. Even if you stick around for several years compensation is well below industry averages. Be prepared to live, work, drink and sleep with your co-workers.

Promotions.. well this really depends if you fit into the clique-y mold. There’s generally no other rhyme or reason. And imagine.. 23 or 24 year old managers that think they have nothing left to learn because they were promoted within two years of their professional careers. Naturally, the problems associated with this show within the incompetent mid-level management.

If you’re looking for a fratty culture that you can learn the professional basics from, this place might be fine for you. But really, my advice is that you just stay away.. if you don't, promise yourself you'll get out after two years and resist being brainwashed into thinking the laid back atmosphere makes up for the fact that you'll be forever broke.
