I have been working at Advisory Board full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I enjoy what I do and have had a great opportunity to work in many different facets of my department. Benefits, for the most part, are all pretty good. People are driven here, and I believe what we do is ultimately improving healthcare in the US

    Cons

Meritocracy my fannie. ABC likes to call itself a meritocracy, and promotes those that have proven capable. But what really ends up happening, is that ABC promotes those that are the most vocal and scream the loudest. I think the "meritocracy" ultimately promotes an environment of get ahead by all means necessary.

Work-life balance is definitely skewed towards work rather than life. I try to push it back towards life as much as I can with my staff, but there's only so much you can do with the amount of work we have.

I also think a company as large and successful as ABC can afford more than $1000/yr in tuition reimbursement and more than a variable 401K match program.

    I worked at Advisory Board

    Pros

Top-notch coworkers truly care about where is going and how to help hospitals and health systems in the industry.

    Cons

The opportunity to take on a lot of responsibility comes with a trade-off for work-life balance if you're not skilled at managing your time.
