Coworkers are great. Upper management are hypocritical and two-faced.

Pros

Coworkers are great. Helping patients receive better health care is a common theme among staff.

Cons

Upper management are passive/aggressive. The only goal is their goal - no matter what. Lack of ethics and morals abound.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Grow a pair and do what's ethically and morally right for the patient. Support your employees. Realize that employees are people, not just a commodity to use to get the boxes you want checked.

    Pros

Company is strong financially, able to take on new projects and compete in marketplace with the latest technology.

    Cons

Company has not been observed to live out its values internally - people (the first priority of Advocate's mission statement) are not valued.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The mission and vision of Advocate is strong and on-point. Senior leadership needs to be sure it is actually being lived out. Further, Senior leadership needs to stop being "buffered," which is cultivating a culture of "plausible deniability" that is at odds with the faith-based culture at the core of Advocate's beginning.
Ways of doing business that may have been accepted in the anonymity provided by a major metropolitan area do not fly in a culture where people live in one place for most of their life, know most of the others in their area, and are heavily invested in thier community. The heavy-handed approach used so far as severely injured the company's image and reputation in downstate Illinois.
