I have been working at Advocate Health Care

Pros

I am given increased responsibilities based on my knowledge and capabilities - and additional work hours when I want them.

Cons

My unit runs short staffed quite often. Nurses are spread thin. Morale gets low. People break the rules (no call/no show) to work and mgmt. turns the cheek.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's not always about being under budget. When your staff is tired, what exactly is the quality in the care given?

    Pros

    ? Flexible work schedule
? Depending on a department, employees are overly satisfied….. or overly dissatisfied
    ? Easy parking

    Cons

? Favoritism is shown based on who you know and who you don’t
? Advocate’s MVP’s are overly taunted and acted upon only when it suites the organization and management.
? Family/ life work balance may be taken away without your consent
? If employees have a complaint or question, they have a right to call HR…. in my experience, HR sends people away with often no answers and their situations becomes drastically worst
? Those who “rock the boat” are often pushed out or sent away.
? You may be restructured to a job you have no interest in
? Those who do work, don’t get credit. Those who talk about doing work, are moved up
? Watch out for power hungry VP’s – an employees job is to make their boss look better

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop talking about being one of the “best places to work” and start showing it. Talking about your Mission, Values and Philosophy, doesn’t mean much when you have employees unhappy and treated poorly.

I have been working at Advocate Health Care

    Pros

one of the best hospitals in the area, close to home, has potential to become a great trauma center, if managed by professionals

    Cons

disrecpect shown by management, low pay, lack of bonuses, poor and expensive benefits, not a good environment to work if not one of the preferates

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

try another medical insurance company, pay people on their competence and hard work, not just on the years worked in the hospital, force managers to be respectful and fair with employee
