I worked at Aetna as an intern (less than an year)

Pros

Rotational internship enabled me to get a feel for various departments, including: underwriting, network management, and sales.
Great people to work with as well.

Cons

Feels like most of the energy was focused on interns in Hartford, CT. If you are located elsewhere, then it feels like you're on your own.

Recommends
No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Aetna full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The overall benefit structure is pretty good.
    Ample PTO and biweekly paychecks.
    Training program was decent.
    Top of the line technology.

    Cons

The local management in my office doesn't have a clue about how to run a business.
Plenty of inappropriate and unprofessional behavior by co-workers. Racist jokes and nude pix are a constant form of amusement for some.
    Favoritism.
    High deductible health insurance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop ways to translate the CEO's vision to employees. There seems to be a disconnect from his office to other offices.
