Former Employee - Summer Associate in New York, NY

I worked at Aetna as an intern (less than an year)

Pros

Had a great boss who was supportive and really exposed me to different aspects of the company
Summer Associate program was nicely structured, with lots of guest speaker events featuring top execs including Mark Bertolini
Diverse project load and a chance to work with different levels of senior management as well as employees in different offices

Cons

Being in NY was more difficult/isolating as I was the only intern in the office and most of the other interns were in the Hartford location

I have been working at Aetna

    Pros

Flex schedule, LOVE my supervisor, really like my team (most of the time), feel like I am using my BSN, autonomy, love my patients. Ethical company. Just a great department to work for.

    Cons

Work overload (but that is everywhere). Took a long time to get into the company (4 to 6 months). Some departments are not as good as mine (so I heard). Management is overwhelmed. It is almost imposible to move up the corprate ladder and make a decent salary.
