Pros

Cons

high priced health insurance for their own employees and poor coverage, surprising as this is a health insurance company.

I worked at Aetna as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Flexible work schedule, as Case Mgt. Coordinators worked from home, made appts. with mbrs. and completed home visits.

    Cons

Poor supervision and Program Direction. Lack ability to positively motivate and encourage staff. Supervisors were indifferent and often unwilling to assist, and difficult to be reached (LTSS Dept.in Chicago). Long hours, extended overtime to complete work with no additional compensation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Needs a training program that better prepares supervisors and managers over people. Program could be much better and a pleasure to work for if supervisors were more supportive, and if program were better structured. Contacted CEO of Dept. who really offered no assistance with workplace conflict with supervision.

Hard work and long hrs, depending on the role you have. Good work/life policies if you can take advantage.

I worked at Aetna (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good policies for flexible work schedules. Potential for remote work depending on role since Aetna does a lot of conference calls for meetings and has virtual teams. People are professional.

    Cons

Depending on work area and role, can be very overworked. Layoffs are a part of life at Aetna, typically coming every year to two. As with any large company, there are politics.
