Pros

Working for an out-sourcer servicing Government entitlement programs in a down economy is hard to screw up. Most of the people are good to work with and technically competent. Most people don't let their ego get in the way of teamwork.

Cons

The teamwork vibe only extends as far as the walls of this location; intra-corporate communication and coordination are very low. Management does not communicate or act on personnel issues constructively. Working for an out-sourcer, don't be surprised if they try to outsource you. Low morale means that when external opportunity improves, there will be (another) exodus.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate on issues relating to corporate or local issues in a complete, consistent, and timely manner, and stop trying to spin the message. Your silence implies ignorance, incompetence, or lack of concern. Re-evaluate the success of the off-shore out-sourcing strategy on a regular basis. Personal loyalty to executives is earned through demonstrated expertise and their support of the front-line contributors, and cannot be created by demand. Once earned, personal loyalty does not excuse counter-productive leadership.

I worked at Affiliated Computer Services

    Pros

    Flexible schedule, bonus package, benefits

    Cons

Management level seemed to be a revolving door. Went through four CIOs in a little under a year. There was no opportunity for professional growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Managers in place should present an attitude of caring. They seemed to focus more on the bottom line and not the client.

I have been working at Affiliated Computer Services

    Pros

Benefits are okay and some of the people I work with are real "top guns'

    Cons

Ridiculous raise and bonus potential. How can management expect top performance when the average raise is 1-3%(fact). Management team are looking out for themselves and I absolutely DISAPPROVE of the way our customers are treated. Also, the HR people are all your best friends until you do something which they disapprove of, even personally. Then they put on their holier than though hats and people get fired. This company should go out of business. If the customers only knew who they were turning over the HR and IT services too, they would run reconsider the outsource idea all together.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start over from scratch and get to know your employees. ACS is an glorified Temp agency. If they care so little about the employees....then how much do they care about their contracted customers????
