Pros

I think the only pro that I have is that my boss is relatively lenient with time off. The company policy on time off is horrible, but if you have a good manager they have some discretion.

Cons

Where to begin...promotion is non-existent. In the 5 years I've been with the company I think I've seen one person get promoted. If someone leaves a job 9 times out of 10 they'll hire from the outside instead of promoting (that could just be my group however). The company is off-shoring every job they possibly can which would be fine if the service levels were properly met (which they're not). There doesn't seem to be an overall strategy within the company (other than outsource everything), however that may simply be a factor of the Sr Management not communicating. Also, it is definitely frustrating for the worker bees that they get a 0.5%-2.5% raise while Sr Management (see SEC filings) is getting ~15% raises without large increases in either rev or profits.

Advice to Senior Management

Base your compensation on your performance. Change the culture to promote from within. Communicate to the employees and let them know what direction the company is headed. Outsourcing may save money, but doesn't necessarily achieve the desired results.
