Affiliated Computer Services – “Work for ACS”
0 of 1 people found this helpfulPros
Excellent place for career opportunities if you are willing and able to work long hours and take on new responsibilities with great mental flexibility. There are some very hard-working, sincere, caring people in every role. They can make your life amazing. You have to go find them and you have to take responsibility for what you do. Your success is in your own hands.
Cons
The opposite of the above will lead to immediate stagnation as the corporation has zero tolerance for slackers. Note that this does not mean there are no slackers, there are an incredible number...they just don't get promoted. That means there are a whole lot of "B" players running around complaining about how they don't ever get any breaks. And remember the old truism that, while "A" players hire "A" players, "B" players hire "C" players. So you WILL deal with that challenge every day. As above, you own your own success...no one else is going to babysit you so, if you aren't a self-starter or are lazy then expect this to be a job, not a career.
Advice to Senior Management
Remember the roots of the company and reward those who produce at the expense of those who don't. Favoritism is all well and good but it should not get in the way of rewarding those people who make money flow into the company.

Babysitting IS what is done in these centers. You are correct about not getting any breaks! Good luck... "Can I take a break? I was scheduled for my first 2 hours ago." "Can you take just one more call?" Before you know it... your lunch has come and gone.
IRONIC! You are using ABC to describe the players... Why not explain what ABC is? Oh yeah... that would also be a con right? In a nutshell, ABC is the acronym for their pay structure. You are paid for your AVAILABLE time. If you go on break, go to the bathroom or have to clean up a mess of a call, you are dropped to minimum wage until you return to AVAILABLE status. HA!
ACS is infamous for hiring below standard people to fill the call center to answer the calls because see... ACS is paid for each call that is answered. The faster you answer the calls and handle them the more you can take... the more you take, the more ACS gets paid. You forgot to mention the last minute MANDATORY overtime requirements! How could you? There is NO work/life balance with this company... no matter what level in the call center you are... from agent to ops manager to SBU manager... you are on-call 24/7. Let me end by saying... the upside down pyramid leaves you without a solid foundation.
