Cons
The sales agents at the bottom do all the work and financially support everyone up the management ladder. As a result they micro-manage you, pushing and pushing for more sales. Headquarters promotes ethical, and well-balanced management, but because bonuses are based on sales volume, local management is demanding and condescending if you do not work, work and work.
The continuing recruiting makes many agents making very little. That is why 90% leave in their first year. The smart ones. Unless you can tolerate constant rejection, do not consider taking a sales job with Aflac. So many businesses are tired of being "hounded" by countless agents knocking on their doors.
You would do well to go out and talk to 10 local businesses and ask them what they think about Aflac. That will give you an idea of how difficult your job will be.
Advice to Senior Management
Headquarters employees are poorly trained. It is a common complaint among agents that call headquarters for an answer and call later to follow up and get a totally different answer.
Please stop the constant recruiting just to recruit. Have a salesforce evenly distributed over territories so that that current agents can make a decent living.
Market to Employers so they understand the value we bring to their business. Employees want us, but employers tell us to get lost.
