    Pros

It is an environment where there is constant change which keeps things interesting and challenging in order to keep up with the customer demands on our platforms, and the people who work there are generally great people to work with. Over the years of change the interdepartmental relationships have become a little more strained due to conflicting goals, but the people are still very friendly and work hard with one another.

    Cons

This company has been through several Presidents and other Executive team members over the last several years, along with the sale of two out of its three business divisions. Over the years this has created a wandering or sometimes lack of company vision where departments basically function in a maintenance mode waiting for that company direction to settle.

    Advice to Management

Most Management does a solid job.

  2. No training - you better "know it all"

    Pros

Nice working conditions. SOME of the lower management is good. Good travel possibilities.

    Cons

The CEO is there just to boost the stock price and then sell the company. No training available; company expects you to just "know it all". They expect you to work long hours and then don't reward you for it. They are very autocratic in their management style and ALWAYS lay off people. In the shortly over a year time that I was there, they had four rounds of layoffs! They lost a lot of good people and didn't seem to care. The people that were left were confused and angered about their new roles. Some of the management have preconceived notions about you that you will never be able to break. The management team, for the most part, is very poor. The company as a whole does not like for you top confer with others on an issue; they just want you to be the supreme expert and "figure it out". The company takes up for the customer, rather than the employees. The management all sticks together and one opinion of an employee is everyone's opinion. If there is an employee on your team that they like, they will be the one to travel, and not you.

    Advice to Management

Quit focusing on the stock price and the bottom line and focus on your employees. Quit laying people off. Take other measures, if needed, like cutting executive bonuses, before laying people off. Put your managers through management training, especially Directors and above. Learn to value all employees and not just certain ones. Provide training if needed. Allow employees to help each other, without repercussion. Despite what the company thinks, no one knows it all.
