Good stepping stone, bad for long-term career

Pros

Non-management employees in some departments do get bonuses, you just have to negotiate that.

Most coworkers are at least semi-competent, which is rare.

Cons

No raises this year, due to economic downturn. :-( Raises, when they do occur, are around 3%, which does not keep up with inflation. This job is basically just a stepping stone, because if you stay here for too long, you would end up with less purchasing power than you started with, unless you got a promotion.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Salaries must raise as skill sets raise, or else you will lose the top performers every year, keeping only the bottom 90%.

    Pros

    Industrial gas business is growing and recession proof. Airgas continues to grow/acquire new business. Airgas is an American company with high goals/expectaitons for its board members

    Cons

    Has lost its identity/organization through hundreds of acquistions. Is looking for team work between its departments but plan/map is very poor at this time. There strategic plan has poor support from upper management going forward.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Learn how to connect with your people(family) so they take pride in what they do each and everyday. Make sure you treat people fairly and they see you in a good light.
