    Pros

Good benefits, nice building, nice people

    Cons

Political mill where everyone bows to the CEO. Lots of talk around how employees matter but little action. Favoritism is common practice. Managers blame their team for their own shortcomings when they are the one who failed. Slow, slow, slow place where they keep talking about innovation but no real action to make it happens.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring your buddies from previous jobs who will just be eager to always please you without giving you the hard truth.. Get management from start up to make things happen.

    Pros

Change in culture to being more open. Executive Team makes an effort to get out and know the workers. Implementation of new time away from work policy starting 1/1/13. Personally, I've been very fortunate to work for a super manager who asks for and considers his staff's input when making decisions or allows the decision to be made by us. Others are not so fortunate.

    Cons

One con is what ARC has called the "silo effect". With employees in four geographic locations, sometimes it's easy to feel left out of the loop of what is going on. ARC has made improvements, but there's still work to be done. We have video conferencing available, but it's not the same as meeting someone in person. There's even the silo feeling within divisions as information isn't freely shared or we find out in the middle of a project that we're expected to take responsibility.

    Advice to Management

Make an effort to make arrangements for lower level employees to visit other office locations and meet with those they interact with on a regular basis. This not only puts a face to the name and voice you've talked to on the phone, but gives the feeling of truly being part of the team. At the beginning of a project, please step back and consider all areas that will be affected or need to participate to any extent and include them in the planning from step one, even if it's just on an informational basis.
