“Very strong company; not long on work/life balance”
Current Employee – been working at Akamai
Pros – Very solid technology, intelligent and hard-working employees, interesting customers and projects, commitment to making customers successful, limited tolerance for poor performers.
Cons – The company is run very lean - which is positive in one sense, but also leads to an overworked work force. Weak on respecting people's outside lives, and expectation is that people will be available at all hours if needed.
Advice to Senior Management – As the economy begins to improve and employees have other options, it will be important to address work/life balance issues much better.
