I have been working at Alabama State University full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

It is a good place to work if you have children.

Cons

Does not pay well and hard to advance if you don't rub elbows with the right people.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

They should promote based on skills and qualifications, not who a person knows.

I have been working at Alabama State University full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Calm atmosphere and good employees. The health benefits are very good, but not great. To advance in salary you have to acquire a different title, they are not good at giving performance raises. You get 8 hours per month of annual leave and 8 hours of sick leave. After so many years you get 10 hours per month and then it goes to 15 hours per month.

    Cons

Job growth is limited unless you are faculty.

I worked at Alabama State University

    Pros

Some of the people are great people trying to do their jobs to the best of their ability

    Cons

Environment is corrupt from top to bottom.
You'll find efforts to move up stopped because of petty politics.
Poor hires from board assures again that the unqualified rise to the top and the qualified either leave or remain in positions where their influence is limited.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop making the primary focus paying back your friends.
Focus on the quality of education you are delivering.
