Former Employee – worked at Alberta Health Services full-time for more than 7 years

Pros – Lots of opportunities for skilled/experienced professionals.
Many sites/locations to choose from.

Cons – High turnover in organization is one reason for lots of opportunities.
Compensation is ok.
Union environment for non-management and exempt staff can be exhausting at time (both time wise and mentally, since many union employees only does the bare minimum to make sure they get a pay check).
Some decisions may be politically based rather than what is the right thing to do.

Advice to Senior Management – Let decisions and leadership be driven by skill set and experience, not by the social hierarchy.
For example: doctors are skilled at delivering clinical care, and often most are not good leaders.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
