I have been working at Alere full-time for less than a year

Pros

Very laid back environment. Collaborative and positive atmosphere.

Cons

Contract positions have minimal discussions of possible extension/timeline, etc....but that's the nature of many contract positions in general so it's not necessarily a negative against them.

    I worked at Alere

    Pros

    You're helping people quit smoking.

    Cons

Crazy amounts of micromanaging. One time my colleague was told over the phone by a customer that his nickname was "Square". And she confirmed by asking, "So, you mean spelled like the side of a cube? Typical spelling of the word 'square'?"He confirmed and so she typed it in. She "failed" the call for not spelling the name back to him. Ha!

I have been working at Alere full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Committed and passionate staff that are truly interested in improving the health and well-being of the participants and clients that are served.

    Cons

Poor forward looking vision. Minimal innovation and severe resource shortages that perpetuate the problem.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest for the future. Find true thought leaders in the industry and lead the industry in innovation rather than following long after others launch and have outcomes for innovative products.
