I have been working at Allegion full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Big stable company that's trying to incorporate the excitement of a startup. Allegion is trying to change the culture to be more agressive and risk-taking. Plenty of learning opportunities as the industry moves from purely-mechanical products to electronic products that include low power wireless, cloud services, advanced materials, and mobile. World class manufacturing and operations. Well-respected in the industry (well-known brand names with high market share and high margins).

I've seen a lot of promotion from within the company, and it seems to be based on skills, not favoritism. It's a very fair, open, and honest work environment. Opportunities to cross departmental and geographic boundaries if you ask for it.

Cons

The message of risk-taking and innovation dies between top leadership and everyday employees. Decisions are supposed to be made with long-term goals in mind, but Allegion hasn't shed enough of its Ingersoll Rand roots to really think that way, so change is very incremental.

Compensation is fine, but stock-based incentives (options, ESPP) are non-existent or limited to upper management.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

You spun away from Ingersoll Rand to enjoy the higher stock multiples afforded "technology" companies, now it's time to invest and staff-up like you were a technology company.

    Pros

    You could get fired.

    Cons

You are more than likely better at your job than the lead person.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to lead, quit playing politics. Try to get a real HR team.

I worked at Allegion full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Tremendous potential with great brands across geographies and many very knowledgeable and committed employees

    Cons

Complicated leadership and quite some politics to play. A bit too much focused on productivity, should look a bit more to a long term instead.
Facilities are getting old and there are not many investments going in that direction other than tin the US

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
