Alliant Techsystems – “ATK - a darn good place to work!

Sep 19, 2008

4.0

Alliant Techsystems Engineer:   (Current Employee)

Pros

Attempts are made on a consistent basis to maintain satisfaction among the workforce. Monthly "all-hands" meetings and town hall style meetings are presented by upper management, all the way to the CEO. Managers are willing to re-locate employees to employee-preferred locations or divisions in order to keep high performing employees, even if it means losing that employee from their group.

Cons

Some of the ATK culture is still based on philosophies from the last century. Since the company hires many more hourly employees than professional employees, professionals can sometimes find themselves being treated like an hourly employee. Do not perceive this as meaning that ATK is a bad place for hourly employees. To the contrary, ATK is an excellent place for an hourly employee with technical skills to make a career.

Advice to Senior Management

None. Senior management seems to have a pretty good grasp of the direction they are trying to take ATK and I agree with most of their philosophies.
