I have been working at Allstate full-time (more than an year)

Pros

You are truly self-employed. Theoretically, you're income is unlimited, but it is limited by the lack of new auto and home customers.

Cons

They have saturated the area with RR's
The high auto premiums are causing the Agents to loose more customers than they are getting
Low, low commissions and incredibly good ole boy group, if you're not one of them, forget it.
Sales staff morale is at all time low thanks to CEO's company direction to the internet
The only reason most of the upper management move here is to work 2 more years and retire, that's a quote from one of them

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop worrying about your hiring plans and upper management year end bonuses and be managers.

    Pros

Opportunity to increase knowledge. The ability to help out people. Give great prices ans service. There's always an opportunity to grow.

    Cons

They don't offer much benefits. It also seems like the company is not very organized. Sometimes agents promise customer things the company does not offer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend more time in the agencies making sure that everything works the way it is supposed to.

I worked at Allstate full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

benefits, interesting work (though too much of it.) required to investigate and close certain amount of claims and answer the non stop phone. could not be done in the time alloted and spent many, many hours of my own time to keep up.

    Cons

excessively heavy workload. needed to put in a lot of overtime though not paid for overtime.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

more realistic expectation of how much work can be done in a given amount of time, recognizing that a good part of the day is spent answering the phone.
