Pros

Great working environment and training and coworkers. The agent owner was great

Cons

Commission rates not as high as I would've expected.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to offer added incentives to drive sales and supplement the base salary. Also separate the customer service from the sales tasks.

    Pros

Work/Life, Vacation, easy to follow work since it moves so slowly

    Cons

Cronyism, No promotions, Frozen Salaries, Lack of technical people in technology, CEO horrible. Anyone worth anything has already left, so it is an adverse selection of good talent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management is incapable of understanding advice. Total vacancy of leadership.

Financial Services Rep Is Much Harder Than The Letter They Send Out Describes

I have been working at Allstate full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Allstate is a well known company. They have great visibility, decent training, and good products. The agents are good people and clearly leaders in their field of P & C insurance.

    Cons

The lead program the EFS or Financial Services Rep. which is referrals from P & C agents doesn't work. Commissions splits are too low for the P & C agent to care.Their bonuses are too difficult to reach for them to try too hard. They can also write the business themselves when they happen upon a good lead. The training for referring leads is non-existent or "created" by the individual managers (most of whom have never sold financial products).

Also, the relationship between the P & C agent and their customers is lot different than a typical financial advisory relationship. It is more transactional and not very personal. Some agents do not even talk to their customers, their staff handles the entire transaction. It is similar to a warm lead (like a mutual friend) but is not a referral in the traditional sense because their customers do not see them as person they trust with their finances. The agent is their trusted car or home insurance person and not their trusted financial advisor. The referral does not carry the weight that normal referral would. And consider that everyone needs car insurance but not everyone is a prospect for financial services...the customer base is already limited for this reason. Out of 1000 policyholders, their might only be 25 good leads.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Split commissions evenly. Make it to where the P & C agents must have a financial services rep as a split on every financial product written. Create a training program for each financial rep and the agents they will be working with to thoroughly train the agent on how to create leads. And make it a certification process or mandatory training.

Also, bringing in successful partnerships to train other partnerships would be a great idea and help facilitate the idea of teamwork.
