Former Employee - Junior Sales Associate - Assistant Manager in Corona, NY

I worked at Allstate full-time for more than 8 years

Pros

Really great company. Great support staff (headquarters) and great associates. They help you with everything from detailed information about the products to assistance with sales.

Cons

I worked in the NYC area, and their underwriting guidelines made it so difficult to write business let alone compete with other carriers.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

When they loosen up some of their underwriting regulations, they will be a force to reckon with. Great financial standing, great company but bad product.

Current Employee - Liability Claims Adjuster in Farmington Hills, MI

I have been working at Allstate full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good benefits. Good work environment. Major holidays off and a lot of PTO. They try to give you autonomy over your own work and there is not too much micro-managing.

    Cons

Being a claims adjuster is essentially a customer service position and dealing with customers can be daunting at times. There isn't quite as much opportunity for advancement as I would like.

Former Employee - IT Project Manager in Northbrook, IL

I worked at Allstate full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

It is a great company for working moms. It offers flexible schedule, two days per week working from home, health club, several cafeterias, etc. Company offers a lot of PTO (Paid Time Off: vacation + sick days). Employees are offered to buy additional 5 PTO days per year and can transfer 5 days from previous year.

    Cons

Salaries rise extremely slow, and it is very difficult to grow into management position unless you have strong connections. Business has tendency to get outsourced to India and Europe regardless the cost of re-work. Company lays off employees periodically (approximately once per 18 - 24 months).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It is just a philosophical food for thought: people are more important than all money, stock price, etc in the world.
