I worked at Allstate full-time for more than 10 years

Pros

Descent benefits and the company believes in work/balance life. There are opportunities for telecommuting or working from home a couple of days every week. The people are friendly and willing to help.

Cons

For the past several years the company has been outsourcing work and downsizing. That has led to a workload issue for the remaining resources. The keeps stating we have to do more with less. This has caused some morale issues in areas that have heavy workloads and not enough resources.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Either reduce the number of projects to lessen the pressure and stress on resources or hire more people.

    I worked at Allstate full-time

    Pros

The benefits and salaries are great, and there are opportunities to learn a lot and work with some interesting people.

    Cons

They re-organize about every 2 weeks and go through a constant and ceaseless cycle of hiring and firing. They don't even try to retain employees any more.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop wasting your investment in people by throwing them out like they're garbage every time you do a re-org. Figure out how you can retain these bright, intelligent people who don't deserve to be treated like this!

I worked at Allstate full-time for less than a year

    Pros

met good people, good training program, excellent focus on having employees interact with others across the company through the Allstater's website.

    Cons

terrible hours, management out of touch with needs of agents, deliverable requirements that are nearly impossible to meet. I was part of a group of part time student employees with hours that were supposed to be around classes, but in reality the shifts were too long and interfered with class schedules, making it nearly impossible to work and attend school at the same time. Weekends were mandatory, with time off difficult to obtain.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

spend some time in the trenches and see what it's really like before implementing ridiculous deliverable requirements.
