I worked at Allstate as a contractor for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Good support
    Good bonus structures
    Great product
    Great brand image

    Cons

Management continuously try to micro manage independent contractors
Employee level of control over agency owners that supposedly own their own business
Contract that basically disallows any income other than Allstate, very tyrannical leadership

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Worry more about results and less about making sure that agents get there your way.

I have been working at Allstate full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The benefits are pretty good. Decent time off and medical coverage. Many people stay their whole careers. For the most part, it is a stable company.

    Cons

Leadership is weak, uncoordinated, and disconnected. Much more attention is paid to results than to people. Much of the workforce is complacent and just trying to hang on until retirement. Technology is antiquated, and bureaucratic policies make getting things done very difficult.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Slow down and pay more attention to employees satisfaction. Develop a more progressive, modern approach to doing business. Leave old ways behind.
