Pros

Alternatives just tripled in size so there are plenty of internal promotion opportunities. Training is Alternatives strength and there are numerous opportunities for paid training. The offer a small education credit as well as medical/dental/life insurance.

Cons

High turnover rate, High stress job. The hours are not conventional. There has been a decrease in communication since the expansion.

Advice to Management

Improve communication between regional components and increase standards for paper work and employee individual interactions. Offer training series more than 1 time every other month.

I worked at Alternatives Unlimited (Massachusetts) full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Laid back staff. Lot's of time off. You have a lot of team support, and can work independantly. Flexable hours. You can wear whatever you want. They rarely ever fire anyone so you can do the minimal and get by just fine.

    Cons

Dead end job unless your a favorite of managment. No real structure to programs individuals live in. Half the time managment can't agree on anything. Low pay even for RN's. All about the $$$ for higher ups so much so that even the thank you reception for employees/clients is salad and mystery meat.

    Advice to Management

Stop playing favorites. Give Extended leave bank back to employees that quit. Quit crying poor when there is money. Show up in the programs once in awhile and act like you care.
