Pros

Very challenging product to market requiring creative and critical thinking. The category continues to evolve with the entry of new alternatives to cigarettes and this company has excellent infrastructure in place to lead.

Cons

Company needs to consider more diversity in their management ranks. There is little representation of women and people of color leading teams. The focus is on innovation rather than diversity which may lead to more innovation naturally.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take full advantage of your diverse workforce. Be open to new ideas and business solutions.

    Pros

    Smart people, opportunities to transition to other operating companies or rotational assignments. Resources for employee and community engagement.

    Cons

    Slow moving at times and hierarchal. In some areas, employees can be cornered into a particular job or scope of work. And, in some instances, there is not breaking out to do other work that is more interesting or aligned with one's skill set and passion.

    Authenticity is needed. You'e got top talent being road blocked by leaders trying to protect their territory.

    Was once a great company that treated their employees well but that is not the case anymore.

    Pros

    Salary, company car. Health benefits used to be great but they continue to change them for the worse every few years.

    Cons

    Inexperienced managers who don't know how to manage people. This really becomes an issue with yearly employee reviews due to the fact that your manager (or theirs) can completely control the outcome of your review/ yearly rating. If they like you, they can make you look great at the org reviews. However, if you don't have that "in" with them, then they can sabotage your career, and make it look justified on paper! You have little to no control over the outcome.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Change the promotion plan so that you don't have to manage people to be promoted. Not all good employees are meant to move into a management position. Managers can make or break people's careers, so stop putting "pre-teens" in management positions! It's a losing situation for all parties involved!
