    Pros

Theoretically, you can get a lot of exposure and can "move a bunch of balls forward"

    Cons

The sad reality of the firm is that it's extremely change averse. They preach entrepreneurial spirit, but people who try and do new things are shut down. They're overrun with the children of leaders, who take on an anointed status within the firm.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Add some checks and balances to hiring and performance management. Don't get caught up in thinking years of experience is the only determinant of merit.

I have been working at Alvarez & Marsal

    Pros

Great people who I enjoyed working with for the most part. The company invests in its people in terms of training and mentoring.

    Cons

Unfortunately, the projects are typically not that attractive and are the projects that the company doesn't want to do themselves. Some projects were really rewarding and really made a difference for the client however this is the minority of the time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The management team needs to better represent the work Alvarez & Marsal typically does for clients and better align behaviors for business development.
