I have been working at Amalgamated Life

Pros

If you don't have any goals in life then its a great place to work. Very less pressure if you know the your work. 37.5 hrs work week. Good place for under qualified people.

Cons

The company has union. So if you are qualified and motivated then its hard to get promoted since seniority plays the part also. Also, the salaries are very low.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Motivate the employees and also need more interactions with the employees.

I have been working at Amalgamated Life

    Pros

    - Good benefits (health, dental, 401K, tuition reimbursement, etc.)
    - Good work/life balance.
    - Employees are friendly, for the most part.

    Cons

    - Location (the company moved from Manhattan to White Plains in 2008).
    - Low pay. At least the benefits make up for it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create more training programs for employees. Increase salaries for lower-level employees. Add more shuttle buses to and from the train station.

    I worked at Amalgamated Life

    Pros

The management and staff are very competent and helpful. After a project you are given liberties to finish it without pestering (as long as you complete it on time and well). The atmosphere is laid back and casual, but still business oriented.

    Cons

Although there are growth opportunities, you may have to work exceptionally hard for it. Its easier to get into a slump because management is so lax that being recognized for your work is difficult.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Interact directly with employees to encourage timely work. Be more motivating and serious about company orders and projects. Keep track of what everyone in the department is working on to make sure that no one is stepping on the others toes.
