Avoid like the plague...happy I escaped!

Project Manager (Former Employee)
Seattle, WA

ProsSome very smart people pass through. The pay seems good but will be selling your whole life to them.

ConsMean-spirited, fearful environment. Unless you are one of the suck-ups, expect to be bullied. Anyone with any self respect usually runs out the door. Especially if they ever want to see their kids again. Like others have said it's an online Walmart, without seeing the elderly, and pregnant women humiliated on a daily basis.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou will continue to make money because customers only care about price. Find a better way to make a living than helping to abuse people by making a deal with this devil. Why is Amazon never on the best places to work list?

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Good Exposure to a Highly Successful Company, But Don't Expect Adequate Compensation or Upwards Mobility

    Software Development Manager (Current Employee)
    Seattle, WA

I have been working at Amazon.com full-time for more than 5 years

Pros: Very smart people. You will get to work with many high achievers from both the engineering and business worlds. Engineers get to learn… Cons: Ridiculously hard to get promoted. You're more likely to see incompetent managers get hired into positions that they don't want to promote you to. Performance… Advice to Senior Management: Shift the culture away from top-down, middle-management-heavy dynamics, and start fostering more focused and creative teams from below. Reward more. Promote more frequently from within.… No, I would not recommend this company to a friend More

A busy, constantly on the move type of job.

    Warehouse Picker (Former Employee)
    Whitestown, IN

I worked at Amazon.com full-time for less than a year

Pros: Pros: decent pay, good people, good exercise. You get some… Cons: You don't really get a break. Your feet hurt after awhile, your lunch break is… Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend More
