I worked at Amazon.com full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Decent wages, overtime hours during peak seasons (Thanksgiving and Christmas), work independently, fast paced and never boring. They hold competitions and reward those who can pick the fastest (prizes: iPods, Vendor Bucks, Gas Cards). Sometimes Amazon will hire on temps as full-time workers after the season. An overall great seasonal job.

    Cons

If you're not physically able to push a cart full of products (cookware, books, appliances, etc.) for long periods of time (8+ hrs) with only a few breaks, then this is job is not for you. You are timed and scored on how many products you collect and send to shipping. If your numbers fall you can be fired. There are only two bathrooms in your work area, neither one will be close to your picking section, good luck staying hydrated. You only sit during everyone's assigned lunch, there is no where for you to rest on the warehouse floor (unless you're one of the inconsiderate folks who take naps in the bathroom). If you get caught up in childish drama easily, don't work here. It seems as though all the adolescent retards looking for a quick buck come here for two or three weeks then leave, but they make sure to slow everyone else down before hand. Guys, do not stand in the middle of the aisles to hit on the younger girls. Ladies, start your cat fights else where.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Address everyone who is out of dress code. I don't want to see guys wearing house shoes and females wearing leggings to work as pants.

I have been working at Amazon.com full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You will solve tough and interesting problems that, literally, no one has solved before.
You will work harder than you ever have.
    You will learn a ton.

    Cons

You will have to manage your work/life balance very carefully.
They have no problem letting you get sucked in, at the expense of other parts of your life.
Their "Insist on the Highest Standards" leadership principle often results in putting staff in tough spots.
