I worked at Amazon.com as a contractor (More than a year)

Pros

* strong work ethic and focus on tangible results * lots of opportunity to move up or laterally to new positions * diverse group of employees * every team must make an annual plan

Cons

* due to high company growth, employees change jobs frequently - and take knowledge with them * lack of documentation - every project is a "new" project - and doesn't have to be * business teams are strong - but lack the ability to define the product they want for the engineering teams.

Advice to Management

Work with your management teams to learn how to define the critical path for business requirements - and train them to convey this information to the engineering teams.

    Approves of CEO

I worked at Amazon.com as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Amazon is really fast in hiring process. Maybe because I was an intern, but I also heard that Amazon is famous for being fast in hiring. A lot of opportunities: it is very flexible to move to other positions and also many training sessions to attend.

    Cons

Amazon is frugal and it is their value but I think they need to invest more money in their employees. Long working hour. People work long and hard. And tough evaluation.

    Advice to Management

I was an intern, so I am not sure what to say here.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Amazon.com as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Free snacks, soda, coffee, and tea in the break-room.

    Cons

Protect management doesn't know what they are doing. A high leave of employee turn-over. No time for professional development or corporate training..

    Advice to Management

Actually implement an agile development process. Get input from employees on how to implement new products. Stop managing by schedule and start using metrics for estimating new products.
