I have been working at Amazon.com full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Numerous opportunities, growing company. Great place to work if you want experience in various fields. Innovative company, still operates like a startup

Cons

Work life balance can be a challenge in some roles and teams, especially during the holiday season. The start up culture demands employees to be hands on.

I have been working at Amazon.com as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

You get an inside look at Amazon.com. Bias for action is the name of the game - that's great if you're interested in moving forward quickly. Your peers and managers generally know their game and play it well.

    Cons

Amazon (Bezos) believes in being as cheap as possible and does not compare favorably to just about every other modern company. Certain groups are surprisingly disorganized and don't always play well with other groups. Training and mentorship is minimal to nonexistent. This is a hit-or-miss affair as there are some great managers in the company. Good luck not getting a dud.

    Advice to Management

You don't need to be an ******* to get things done. Unfortunately, that's the Bezos approach and many underlings and their under-underlings operate in kind. How fulfilling is it to go to work with a gray cloud already over your head?
